In addition, four-time winner Martina Sabilkova (CZE) – gold medalist in 2009-10-15-16 – is also competing, and won the 3,000 m and 5,000 m titles at the World Single Distance Championships in February.
Pedersen crashed in the 10,000 m last year or would likely have been the winner; he won the 1,500 m silver and 5,000 gold in the Single Distance Championships this season. Roest won silver medals in the 5,000 m and 10,000 m in the Single Distance Championships, so he will not give up his crown easily.
