The final Track Cycling World Cup of the 2018-19 season comes this weekend at the Hong Kong Velodrome, with seasonal titles to be confirmed in 14 events: seven each for men and women.
Many of the event leaders have not entered this week, but still might win depending on what happens. But Hong Kong’s Wai Sze Lee, the 2013 World Time Trial Champion and a Worlds medalist in both the Sprint and Keirin, has chances to win both in front of a home crowd.
Lee stands third in both the Sprint and Keirin right now, but the two ahead of her in the Keirin are not scheduled to compete. A win or even a second could take the title. In the Sprint, Ukraine’s Olena Starikova is ahead of her and entered; Lee would have to win and Starikova would have to be fourth or lower to claim that crown.
On the men’s side, Greece’s Christos Volikakis is leading the Omnium standings and is third in the Scratch Race, with just 145 points separating the top three. He could also take home two seasonal wins from Hong Kong. The event-by-event leaders going into the weekend (* = shown on the meet entry list):
