I. PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect information about our users in three ways:
A. Automated information is collected from users who visit TheSportsExaminer.com Web site by some of our software providers. This does not include personal identification information, but may include identification of a user’s device (IP address) and related information.
The various software which operates our site compiles such information for the purposes of statistical reports and uses it for site protection and blocking against hacking and interruption-of-service threats.
This process uses software “cookies,” small files stored on your Internet browser or the hard drive of your computer that are used to gather information such as browser type, operating systems, IP address, device type, location, date and time of access, pages visited, referring sites, time spent on the site, and other information related to your visit. These “cookies” are placed on your device by our site or by third parties providing services to us, for example, for statistical reports and security.
By visiting our site, you accept the use of these “cookies.” You can change your browser settings to disable the use of “cookies” or notify you when a “cookie” is about to be placed in your browser software. Please note that we do not alter our Site’s data collection practices when a “Do Not Track” notice is displayed by an Internet browsing application.
In registering for this service, we ask only for your first and last name and electronic-mail address, for the purpose of sending updates to you. Your visits to our site is subject to the safety monitoring and statistical collection by “cookies” as described above.
C. If you are a subscriber to TheSportsExaminer.com and have provided payment to us for a subscription, you will have provided information to our software service providers including, but not limited to, a user name, password, electronic-mail address and payment information, such as a credit card. This creates a personal account, which is supported by software “cookies” (as described above) to make your user experience more efficient.
Your account password and payment (credit-card) information are not visible to us. We do have access to your user name and electronic-mail address for the purposes of servicing your account. Your visits to our site are subject to the safety monitoring and statistical collection by “cookies” as described above.
Personal information submitted to us outside of the automated sign-up processes outlined above, such as by postal mail or over the telephone, is input manually into the same system as outlined above and maintained with the electronically-submitted records.
II. HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
First and foremost, we use the information you provide to operate the best-possible site to provide commentary, coverage and results of sports and events on the program of the Olympic Games, Olympic Winter Games and related events.
In addition, your information is used to:

C. Manage your account to ensure you are receiving the services you have requested and/or paid for;

Please note that we do not barter or sell personal information to third parties.
IV. HOW DO WE PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
We employ reasonable safeguards to protect your information collected in the use of our site. We cannot guarantee that any information, transmitted over the Internet or while stored on our systems, will be absolutely safe from access by unauthorized users (such as “hackers”).
If you create a subscription account, you are responsible for maintaining the strict confidentiality of your account information, including the user name and password.
